By dear boy:
Warren said it first. "Someone's sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago."
Pretty words. But here's what he didn't mention: most people plant nothing.
They wait for shade that never comes. Then complain about the heat.
The tree planters sweated in full sun for decades while others laughed. Called them crazy for digging holes when they could be inside watching TV.
I planted many trees. Some died. Drought, disease, poor soil. I blame myself for not choosing better spots.
But the ones that lived… My children sit in that shade now. Their children will too.
You might be in your 20s, 30s, even 40s. Still complaining about the sun.
Plant something TODAY or stop whining about the weather. The choice is binary.
The ground is hard. Your hands will bleed. Good. Trees that grow easy fall in the first storm.
Yours sincerely,
